blackberry bumble

as you know, when my mum and i get together, there is always kitchen fun to be had. there are also signature cocktails. over mother’s day weekend, the signature cocktail we designed was the blackberry bumble.

there are two ways to go about this, as we each had a slightly different vision.

what you need for both:

honey simple syrup with lemon – dissolve some honey in very warm water and mix in some freshly squeezed lemon juice (proportions depend on your taste)
fresh blackberries

for mine (on the right):

muddle 3-4 blackberries in the bottom of a champagne flute-type glass.

add  a few ice cubes, 1-2 shots of bourbon and a shot of honey-lemon simple syrup. stir to mix.

top with club soda or seltzer and garnish with a few more blackberries on a toothpick.

for hers (left):

muddle 3-4 blackberries in a cocktail shaker. add ice, 2-3 shots of bourbon and a shot of honey simple syrup.

shake well until very cold.

strain into a martini glass and garnish with a few whole blackberries.

which would you like??

we also made a chocolate polenta cake and got a little fancy decorating it…
